On sunday 13th October 2024 while attending church service in Embu County, The Deputy President of Kenya H.E Rigathi Gachagua said that in everything that is happening in Kenya, There is God in heaven. This comes after Gachagua facing impeachment in the parliament of Kenya and awaits another impeachment at the Senate.
His efforts to save himself from the ouster has been futile after 24 cases filed to stop his removal from office failed at the courts. Gachagua had filed cases in the courts to stop the senate from discussing his impeachment but it proved futile after the court not ruling in his favour. Speaking in Embu, Gachagua however said he belief the courts will deliver justice to him and the people of Kenya.
This is a turn of events afetr He was witnessed in several occassions criticizing the courts and accusing them of incompetence among other accusations. The Embu church service was to be attended by President Ruto who changed plans in the eleventh hour without saying anything and cahnged to attend a different church in Nairobi. While addressing believers in Nairobi, president Ruto said that his schedule could not allow him to attend the Embu church service stating that the programme was fixed and he had no choise than attending Nairobi rather than Embu.
Many politicians have criticised the action sayin the president did not wish to meet with the deputy in his backyard amidst troubles facing him with president Ruto remaining mum over the same. They say Ruto feared tp face mt. Kenya leaders who are accusing him of causing Rigathi Gachagua troubles.
