Former vice president H.E steven Kalonzo Musyoka today visited the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua in Karen Hospital to check on his progress after getting admitted yesterday for servere chest pains. Rigathi Gachagua was admitted in Karen Hospital hours after the morning session at the senate where he was to table his evidence on the impeachment to remove him from the office of the deputy president.
During the visit, Kalonzo Musyoka condemned the yesterday incident where the deputy president was impeached while admitted in hospital stating that he was not given a chance for fair hearing. The former deputy president went missing at the evening session when he was expected to appear in person and present his evidence to the court raising mixed reactions in the senate.
Its later that his defense lawyer Paul Muite confirmed that his clients was seriously taken ill and was admitted in Karen hospital suffering from severe chest pains. The Senate then adjourned for two hours to give the defense team of Gachagua time to come with clear information and instructions on the way forward.
Whem they resumed to the senate, Paul Muite requested for adjournment to tuesday to give his client time to recover then they will proceed with the hearings, a request that was not accepted. The senate then had to vote and thy decided to continue with the business of the day as earlier planned.
Its then that the defense team of the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua pulled out of the senate leaving the impeachment of their client ongoing. Kalonzo Musyoka today condemned the process saying it lacked an element of fair hearing.
