The Mombasa County government is set to demolish a 9 Storey building by a blast on Wednesday 9th April 2025.

All residents within a radius of 1.2 km have been ordered to vacate to others places for their own safety during the demolition which is said to will be heard to several kilometers away from the site.

Mode of demolition of the building

The mode of demolition to be used to demolish the building will be by use of controlled blast. The house will be subjected to a blast which will bring it down in a controlled manner.

Impact of the blast

Experts have warned that the impact of the blast on the building to be demolished will be heard to a long distance from the scene of demolition.

Safety precautions taken

Experts have warned residents within a radius of 1.2 Kilometres around the building to vacate immediately since the impact of the blast will be high within that radius.

Areas of reach

People living with the radius of 1.2 kilometers including prople from Bondeni-Marikiti will be forced to evacuate and leave room for safe and controlled demolition of the marked building

The Mombasa County Government is in the process of evacuating patients from coast general hospital for their safety during the exercise.

Cause of demolition

The 9 storey building was marked for demolition for safety concerns of the Government and the people of Mombasa after it started sinking 2 days ago.
