
The Chief Justice of the Supreme court of Kenya who is the president of the Judiciary in Kenya has Gazetted four Courts and magistrates to handles cases related to being in possession and trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances with municipal and international dimensions.
4 Special courts to handle narcotic and psychotropic substances
Chief Justice Martha Koome gazette this 4 Magistrate Courts as special courts to hear and determine cases of possession and trafficking in narcotics and psychotropic substances in the country and outside the country.
“Pursuant to the provisions of the constitution of Kenya and section 5(2) (c) of the Judicial Service Act, The Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya designates the Magistrate Courts to hear and determine cases of possession and trafficking in narcotics and psychotropic substances with municipal and international dimensions.”
- Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Magistrates’ Court;
- Kahawa Magistrates’ Court;
- Mombasa Magistrates’ Court; and
- Busia Magistrates’ Court.
The chief Justice Martha Koome directed that the designation takes place immediately from the date of the Gazette notice which was dated on 15th January, 2026
