Finally, Ida Odinga speaks about Raila Odinga’s 72 hours burial will

Ida Odinga who is Raila Odinga’s widow has come out to dismiss what was considered Raila Odinga’s wish to be burried within 72 hours upon his death.

This comes months after Raila’s death and burial which was conducted within 72 hours according to his alleged will which has been dismissed by his widow.

Raila Odinga was the party leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the official opposition leader after the 2022 highly contested general election.

He ran against President William Samoei Ruto who was declared winner after defeating Raila Odinga with about 200,000 votes.

The Azimio coalition went to court to protest the victory of the win by the UDA party citing election malpractices and irregularities which. The case was later declared hot air by Chief Justice and president of the supreme court of Kenya Martha Koome.

Raila Odinga’s death and burrial

Raila Odinga died on 15th October, 2025 and was burried on 19th October,2025 a period of 72 hours according to his alleged will. Raila Odinga died in India while undergoing treatment

“I dont know when Raila wrote this will that he wanted to be burried within 72 hours, whether he wrote it in Kenya or elsewhere. It was such a short time” Ida Odinga

Surprise to Ida Odinga and family

Ida Odinga has come out to clear the air that it was a big surprise to them that Raila had wished to be buried within 72 hours when he dies. Idah went ahead to say the time was too short for them, but they tried.

Ida Odinga also thanked President William Ruto for intervening to assist the family meet the 72 hours deadline during the burrial of Raila Amolo Odinga.

Ida Odinga also expressed her feeling that they never expected Raila Odinga to die at that time. She said it caught them by surprise as family.

Ida Odinga also stated that they are still receiving messages of condolences from people. She added that their homes are still open to receive visitors both in Nairobi home and Kango Kajalamogi
