Amidst rising differences between the political class and religious leaders, Today the president of the Republic of Kenya H.E William Samoei Ruto hosted Evangelical and Pentecostal leaders in Statehouse Nairobi to have discussions on the ongoing differences and find an amicable solution.
A few days ago, there was much discussion after Archbishop Nyolo of the Catholic diocese of Catholic Church ordered millions of money donated by the president to the church in Soweto. The money raised criticism from several parties where others opposed the move while others supported the move as right.
This came after the Arch Diocese of Catholic Bishops wrote a letter to him criticizing his leadership style and corruption in his government. A few days after the letter to the president, he went ahead to offer goodies to the churches which was translated as a means of shutting them down from criticizing the head of state. This was not received in good faith but was later sent back to the sender to clear the air that they were not ready to be bribed in order to keep quiet.
Later the president has been seen every weekend in churches giving huge donations for development purposes and offerings. The president has also been seen and heard not once that he will not stop giving to the church but will continue doing the same.
