“For avoidance of doubt, The National Police Service is not involved in any abduction and there is no police station in the country that is holding the reported abductees” Kanja said in a statement
“We therefore appeal to the publicto refrain from spreading false, fabricated, malicious, distasteful. misinformed and unverified information..” read part of the statement.
The Inspector General National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja has today 26th December 2024 denied allegations of abductions of persons in the country. In a press statement issued today, the Inspector General said the constitution of Kenya mandates the National Police Service to arrest and not kidnap criminal offenders.
In the statement, Kanja appealed to the public to refrain from spreading false, fabricated, malicious, distasteful. misinformed and unverified information that is aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the National Police Service.
Kanja also said the matter is subject to investigation by the Independent Police Oversight Authority and any other independent body, He therefore called on any person with relevant information about a missing person to report to the nearest police station.
This comes as many families came out to report missing persons who they cannot trace anywhere while others were kidnapped in broad daylight in full glare of cameras with unmarked vehicles and concealed faces of kidnappers and abductors.
