African Union commission chair Mohamed Ali Yousouf
The African Union Commission chair Mohamed Ali Yousouf was elected as the AUC chair defeating the late former prime minister Raila Amollo Odinga commonly know as baba. Mohamed Ali Yousouf has taken his time to congratulate the Uganda president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s win in the January 15th general elections.
Mohamud Ali Yousouf also commended the conduct of the Uganda elections in Uganda conducted on the 15th of January 2026.

Mohamud Ali appreciated Goodluck Jonathan who is the former president of the federal republic of Nigeria for his leadership of the joint African Union, Common Market of Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) joint election observation mission to Uganda.
Promotion of Democracy and effective governance
The African Union commission chair Mohamud reiterated the commitment of the African Union Commission to continue promoting democracy and effective governance in the continent while applauding the people of Uganda for their commitment in consolidating democratic gains, peace and development.
