
Former president of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta today participated in a high-level meeting on the African Union–led mediation for the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) peace process, held in Lomé, Togo, alongside fellow co-facilitators former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo (Nigeria), Sahle-Work Zewde (Ethiopia), Catherine Samba-Panza (Central African Republic), and Mokgweetsi Masisi (Botswana).
African solutions to African problems
Addressing the meeting, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, underscored the need for Africa to take the lead in resolving the protracted conflict, noting that “the African initiative must now take over and give meaning and credibility to the idea of African solutions to African problems.”
He emphasized the importance of a proactive, coordinated, and inclusive approach involving the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and neighboring countries, adding that the crisis “has lasted far too long” and must be addressed at its roots to achieve sustainable peace.

Together with the fromer president of the republic of Kenya H.E Uhuru Kenyatta were Nigeria’s former president Olusegun Obasancho, Sahle-Work Zedwe of Ethiopia, Catherine Samba Panza of Central African Republic, Mokweetsi Masisi of Botswana and AU chair Mohamud Ali Yusuf.
The African Union AU dialogue meeting was meant to solve African problems by Africans in the African way.
